There’s no such thing as a free lunch. Although, grants may seem like a free lunch, technically they are not. After receiving a grant from a government agency, the grantee is expected to meet the obligations required of him, which are submitting progress reports on the business or the charity-organization to which the grant was first used.

The grantee decides how much money the agency will lend him – as long as it meet s the criteria of the Government agency. Money is non-taxable and interest fee. These grants are classified into two kinds. The first kind is the general purpose or operating support grants. This occurs when the government agency bestows a grant to your organization that will be used to operate and support the general expenses in running your establishment. An operating grant is when the lender supports the organizations’ goal and invests in them to make the most out of the money that they lend you.

South Africa

South Africa is undoubtedly one of the best adventure travel destinations in the entire world. The coast is ideal for all kinds of water sports, so whether you’re a surfer or a scuba diver, a sailor or a water skier, this is the perfect place for you.

As the Obama stimulus plan unfolds, the signed legislation is starting to propagate with details of what was exactly in the 1,100 page document.

One item that stood out was a broad Healthcare IT program to create an electronic database for medical records, which lays the ground work for government subsidized universal healthcare.

I respect those who have experience with certain aspects of life and in traveling and speaking to others who live in a country with a government subsidized healthcare system, the resounding comeback when asked about their level of healthcare is “Yeah government healthcare for everyone is great – just don’t get sick”. 

What most people don’t realize is that in government subsidized healthcare systems, doctors are mere followers as opposed to leaders when it comes to diagnosing and treating illnesses. Diagnosis and treatments are regulated by fixed medical protocols as established by the government. The options you have available include;

1. Hosting your own system remotely.

2. Hosting your own system locally.

3. Using a hosting provider remotely.

4. Using a 3rd party system.

These may seem complicated but to explain;

Option 1. This is a product you host usually in the same place as your website (but doesn’t have to be). For this you usually need a web host that provides a database service. The most common products use MySQL and will require some technical knowledge to implement. There are free systems available but unless you are very familiar with databases and IT in general, be careful as you will likely not have technical support from the producers. Also note that it is recommended that you get an SSL certificate if you plan on taking credit cards.

Option 2. This is an old fashioned type of system and not recommended. The booking system is installed on a PC in your hotel which is connected to the Internet. The downside to this system is that you need to leave your machine switched on 24/7 and have an active and quick connection to the Internet. Again you may need an SSL certificate.

Option 3. These are companies that host the system for you and take away the technical questions you may have from the options above. The downsides are that you have no control over the company running the service and the cost to use the service. You may also be limited on the look and feel of the booking system.  Read more...
