Just about everyday the government agencies across the country seize all manner of personal property because of foreclosure, tax evasion, and criminal activities. These government agencies recover much of their costs for performing these seizures and the associated administrative costs by auctioning off these properties at highly discounted prices.

So how does one of these online government auctions work? Much like a regular auction with the one exception that you do not have to attend in person. The online auction is a relatively new phenomenon but government agencies across the country have seized upon this idea simply for the fact that it reduces the costs. These savings are then passed onto the auction participants in even lower prices for the good offered.

The advantage of using an online auction service for those who wish to participate is the ease of looking through the items being offered, doing research on those items and ultimately bidding from the comfort of home. Winning the auction is much like attending one in person, to the highest bidder goes the spoils. Most of these auctions do have a reserve prices set for each item. This is to ensure that at the least all the administrative costs of the auction are met.

If you do choose to participate in an online government auction here are some of the seized properties you can expect to find.

1. All manner of vehicles – if you are thinking of buying a new car you will find no better deal then at a seizure auction. You will find cars, truck, SUVs, motorcycles, boats, and even aircraft that have been seized for a variety of reasons. Most are less then two years old and are in good to great condition and bought at significant savings.

2. Real estate – People and businesses that default on loans or owe back taxes can find their properties seized and put up for auction. You can bid on single family homes of all sizes, vacant land, vacation homes, condominiums, or anything else the government may have in its possession. You may even find hotels, bars, restaurants, ranches and other commercial real estate up for auction.

3. Clothes, jewelry, and household goods – In the case of those involved in criminal activities government law enforcement agencies will seize anything and everything that is connected with and purchased because of criminal activities. This includes furniture, kitchen items, designer clothing and jewelry.

4. Art collections and antiques – You will also find one of a kind art pieces, whether they be paintings or sculptures. Antique furniture, cars, and rugs among other things will also be up for sale.

As you can see you can bid on and purchase just about anything you need at an online auction of government seized properties. Not only will you find what you are looking for you also stand to save a good chunk of money, unless of course you would rather just pay retail.

If you have never participated in a free government auction then you are missing out on a lot of really good deals on seized and surplus properties. These auctions are free to the general public and only require that you are at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license. There is no cost to participate in these auctions; that is until you make a winning bid.

There are two types of government auctions; the seized property auction and the government surplus property auction. The types of items up for auction at these two types are different because of where they come from but you will find great deals at either type. You will also find auctions that combine a mixture of the two making for a better cross section of stuff to choose from.

A surplus auction is basically an auction of the stuff that federal, state, and local governmental agencies no longer want or need. These aren’t really high end items like you might find at a seizure or repo auction but it is in good shape and can be had for pennies on the dollar. You will find cars, trucks, boats, office supplies and furniture, computers, and in some instances even aircraft.

For top of the line items you can’t beat a seized properties auction. Those who walk on the wrong side of the law and get caught often find their personal property seized by law enforcement agencies. After these items are used in the prosecution of those who committed these crimes they are put up for auction to the general pubic. You will find sports cars, luxury sedans, high end SUVs, jewelry, real estate, electronics and a whole lot of other items for big discounts.

There is no profit motive for these government auctions. They simply want to recoup the costs of storing and processing the goods that end up on the auction block. This is why the starting bids are so low which can lead to great buys at hugely discounted prices.

You can also participate in the auctions online, which can make to whole experience that much more fun. The large online auctions sites keep constantly updated databases of auction locations and the items that are to be auctioned off. You can research everything to be auctioned off and decide which items you would like to bid on right from your computer. Once the auction starts you can bid online while keeping track of the proceedings.

You can also use the online portals to find auctions near you that you can attend in person. No matter your choice, bidding online or attending in person, you stand to save big when participating in free government auctions.

In order to live a decent life a person needs food, employment and also education. The latter is very important because it supports the other two by facilitating their needs. That’s why students must be constantly encouraged to pursue an education program despite the costs.

To support all that, the US Government decided to offer the students a consolidated loan also known as the “federal government student loan consolidation” that will comprise other existing loans into a single one.

The Federal government student loan consolidation program was recently launched by the US Government in order to help students to graduate and to continue with higher study programs.

The consolidated loan offers nominal interest rate and will support the student with financial problems. In many families the parents or guardians cannot afford to spend that much money on education and that should not affect the child.

After graduation the student finds a job and will start paying the federal government student loan using easy instalments. This is the best option because otherwise the student would have to repay different interest rates to several lenders a few times per month.

The loan can be repaid in a certain period of time established by the student. Even if the period can go up to 30 years, it’s important to understand that longer the time period greater the amount to be reimbursed.

The Federal government student loan involves no hefty loan processing fee and the student can pay the monthly instalments using flexible schedules. The fixed interest rate is the average of the total interest rates of all previous loans rounded off to only 1/8th of the percentage.

Even if a student has a bad history with default payments, he will still be eligible for the consolidated federal loan. Last but not least, there is no minimum limit for the loan amount.

So if you are having difficult repaying your various student loans, why not consider consolidating them into one government student loan.

There are many reasons why properties get seized by the government and thus, are auctioned to the highest bidder. The properties that are seized may not only be in the form of a house or business – they might be in the form of a car, boats, bank accounts, airplanes, and even cash.

For one thing, when the owner of the property doesn’t pay his monthly dues, his properties gets seized by the government and are put onto government seized property auctions. Our family experienced this several years ago when sheriffs pounded on our doors in the middle of the afternoon.

They showed us some papers and demanded that we surrender everything to them. Fortunately, they allowed us to move our things out, and we transferred to the property just at the back of our house.

The second reason why properties get seized is that the property that you might be staying in or using might be the evidence of a crime. That is why the government has to get hold of it. In some cases, these properties are returned after the case has been solved – the downside to this is that you don’t know when it will be solved. But properties that are seized for forfeiture can’t be returned anymore.

If you are looking to buy a new home, buying a government seized property via government seized property auctions is one of the best ways to save money. Since the government is not willing to hold on to these properties for long periods of time, you will find these homes and properties being let go at very cheap prices at government and police seized property auctions.

There are several ways to go about finding these repossessed property auctions. One way is to search your local newspaper classified as they may advertised on it when an auction is near. Another way is to go online and check out the latest property auctions in your neighborhood.

I’m fortunate to be in a study group with people from different working environments and industries as I pursue my Masters in Business Leadership at UNISA by correspondence from Swaziland. It’s always interesting to learn how some business declares themselves loss making to escape taxation while they make millions. This was declared by a colleague whose business clients undoubtedly make millions yet they send false reports to government income tax offices. The only sad part is that the employees are the ones who shoulder the government on taxes as they have no ways of escaping. I happen to be an employee who knows how much the government collects from my salary. I bet, if all my annual tax could come to me at the end of the year, I would take my family for a holiday in Mauritius because it’s relatively high.

Who cares when tax collectors are sleeping on the job. It is very common to have managers doing their personal businesses at work while government work is suffering. This goes to extend of abusing working tools like computers, cars and the telephone. Apparently, no one cracks the whip.

Another good example is that at the Road Transportation Board where two officers are reported only to come to work for at most five hours and sometimes not at all yet they get their full pay at the end of the month. This is no surprise because the boss knows them and fails to call them to order for reasons best known to him. This undoubtedly results in long queues from staff shortage, high work pressure levels for the few that remain to do the job and to fruitless expenditure on full salaries to employees that don’t deserve it.

I do motivational blogging at yeboyesafrica.com and am from Swaziland and surely get disappointed each time I visit a government office whose officers have assumed ownership of the working tools and fear none in bridging working rules.
