Especially if you work in the front line divisions like Food & Beverage, and Cabin stewards in Hotel, you actually get PAID from the guests directly.

Yes, passport is the most important travelling document in cruise ship employment; all the personnel working onboard a cruise ship must have a valid passport.

Once you obtain an Employee Agreement with a cruise ship company, you will need to apply for C1 Transit & D1 Seaman and B2 Visitor Visa from the United States Embassy. Most cruise ships do visit United State Of America’s ports of call.

I am strongly advise that you to apply directly to the cruise lines that interest you, this is the best way. 

However if you have good referred recruitment agencies near your place by good seamen now working on board, that will be great too! 

Almost all major cruise lines have their own recruitment agents established in particular regions of the world. When you apply directly to the cruise lines, their nearest agents will contact you.

All the good cruise line employment agencies will make sure that the applicants are fit for the job they applied.

The human resources department of the cruise lines would not be able to manage all the jobs application from all over the world, that is the main reason why good recruitment agents are very demanding nowadays!
